Abstract

Floro costruisce il racconto delle sanguinose vicende legate alla conquista della libertas allo scopo di dimostrare che, fin dalla nascita della res publica, erano presenti i germi di quella ferocia che porterà i Romani ad inseguire il lusso e il potere ad ogni costo. Questa cupido dominandi sarà alla base di quella depravazione morale poi sfociata nelle guerre civili.

Florus builds the story of the bloody events linked to the conquest of libertas in order to show that, since the birth of the res publica, there were the seeds of that ferocity that will lead the Romans to chase luxury and power at all costs.
This cupido dominandi will be the basis of that moral depravity that will result in civil wars.
