How to read the classics in the age of the pandemic? Over the last few days, many scholars in the field of humanities have seemed engaged in highlighting the similarities between the present emergency and the literary descriptions of the plague in authors such as Thucydides, Boccaccio, Manzoni. Are we sure that these similarities can be used as reliable compasses to direct us along the right road in our globally infected world? This paper will address these and other questions.
